• Quand je peins un portrait, d’après modèle vivant ou photo, je commence toujours avec l’œil gauche (droite du modèle). Un jour j’ai lu dans un livre de  Charles Reid: je commence avec l’œil gauche parce que je suis droitier.

Il serait intéressant à savoir, combien de peintres réagissent de la même manière – ou peut-être différemment.

• When I draw or paint a portrait (whether from live model or photo), I always begin with the left eye (the right one of the model). One day I read in a book of Charles Reid: as I am a right-handed I begin the drawing with the left eye!

It would be interesting to know how many painters – Left- or Right-handers – are drawing the same (or in a different) way.

• Wenn ich ein Portrait zeichne oder male (egal ob mit Modell oder vom Foto) beginne ich immer mit dem linken Auge (dem rechten des Modells). Eines Tages las ich in einem Buch von Charles Reid: da ich Rechtshänder bin, beginne ich mit dem linken Auge.

Es wäre interessant zu wissen, wie viele Leute – Rechts oder Linkshänder – auf dieselbe Weise (oder anders) verfahren.
