Lavandes en fleur

jeunes lavandes

aquarelle – watercolor (détail) / Canson Fontenay 300 g/m², 30 x 40 cm

  • After a spring rather cool and wet, nature is somewhat retarded this year. But now lavender begins to bloom and the fields around Sault are covered with a delicate violet tone.

aquarelle – watercolor, papier Fabriano 300g/m², 26 x 35 cm

  • Last Wednesday after the market of Sault I went for a stroll in the plain of Monieux where I found a lovely cabanon in the middle of lavender fields. Painting conditions were difficult: wind, heat and strong sun dried the paper at the drop of a hat. I will use this quick colour sketch for a bigger watercolor painting.

  • To interpret a subject is the most important thing when you are creating a painting. You never will get a good painting if you copy what you see (from life or photo). But if you want to transmit your emotion, try to register as many details (or information) as possible … to keep finally only the essential.
